The Search for Fort Bull: Archaeological Investigation of a French and Indian War Battlefield by the Binghamton University Archaeology Department In-Person

Step into the world of archaeological discovery with this exciting program from Binghamton University’s Archaeology Department. Join us on Monday, August 10 at 6:00 PM as Project Director John Ferri presents The Search for Fort Bull: Archaeological Investigation of a French and Indian War Battlefield.

This engaging talk will explore the ongoing effort to locate the long-lost site of Fort Bull, a key outpost destroyed during the French and Indian War. Built to protect vital British supply routes along the Oneida Carry, the fort was violently attacked in 1756, ending in a massive explosion that destroyed the site and left its exact location a mystery for centuries.

Through cutting-edge techniques such as drone surveys, geophysical imaging, and artifact analysis, archaeologists are uncovering new clues—from musket balls and grenade fragments to buried cannonballs—that are helping pinpoint where the battle took place.

Perfect for history lovers, archaeology enthusiasts, and anyone curious about how the past is rediscovered, this free program offers a behind-the-scenes look at one of New York’s most intriguing historical investigations. Join us at the George F. Johnson Memorial Library for an evening of history, mystery, and discovery!
